Then and Now

Our personal social media platforms and phone data will unearth photos from a time called “THEN.” Seeing the memories played to music often guides me down memory lane with great nostalgia. As we are just days away from our annual conference, time seemed to stand still, as I had a THEN moment.

I had attended my first PennDel Women’s conference in 2004. At that time, the ministry was called Women of Purpose and was under the leadership direction of Ruth Puleo. I had just become a first-time mother earlier in that year, and my sweet husband Kurt, gifted me a weekend away with my church girls. I remember getting everything prepared for Kurt’s first father/daughter weekend. I remember trying to gather outfits and was so excited to have a little “me time.” Once we arrived at the Hershey Lodge, we indulged in hot cocoa and were seated in the Great American Hall. I was able to find and hug long-time family friend, Liz DeFrain who also served as the Women’s Director for 5 years. At the time, I would never have understood the significance of the weekend. I remember who the speaker was, and what scripture reference was used. I recall being intrigued by Ruth and ignited by the Spirit as others on her team led out in times of prayer. To close the weekend, a prayer tunnel was stretched across the altar space of the room. As I walked, the Lord birthed something in me, that, at the time, I wasn’t sure about.

But that first conference turned into an annual trek across the state that has spanned 20 years. It required careful saving of funds to attend. As I reflect on the THEN and look at the NOW, I am amazed at the privilege to serve the Lord as the NOW director. I have been serving on the team for 7 years and was passed the baton by Liz last fall.

The time is NOW for new birthings to take place in the hearts of women across our network.

The time is NOW for women to step into a greater level of their calling.

The time is NOW for ladies to hunger and thirst for righteous, as they will be filled.

The time is NOW.
