Fashioned to Flourish

Have your dreams changed or shifted in your life? As a little girl, I dreamed of becoming an astronaut in my elementary school years, then my love for pets took over in middle school and I wanted to be a veterinarian (which was more like, “Operation: Save Every Animal”). In high school, I dreamed of being a marine biologist. By the time I reached my senior year, that morphed into becoming an interior design consultant with my own TV show!  You could say my dreams changed and shifted a lot as I grew up. I didn’t end up pursuing any of those dreams; they remained just dreams.

I heard someone say this recentlyIf you are a dreamer, then you better be a doer. Dreams just don’t happen on their own. They require hard work and determination. Dreaming involves DOING.

I believe that dreaming helps us flourish. God has fashioned His daughters to flourish when they dream with Him.

What does it mean to FLOURISH? It means to grow luxuriantly; thrive; to achieve success; prosper.

To truly flourish, there are things that need to shift, change and align to the design that is best.

Spiritually things can shift, change and align in us to flourish and thrive as daughters of the King.

We are fashioned to flourish, but there is a decision we must make to align and to lay our dreams at the feet of Jesus. We must learn to walk in the God-given dreams He has for us.

Have you heard of the Super Bloom Phenomenon?

This rare botanical phenomenon takes place in the deserts of California and Arizona. What happens is that an unusually high proportion of dormant wildflower seeds germinate after a heavy rainy winter season. Throughout the spring, the seeds will begin to burst out of the ground and grow. All types of flowers and plants will bloom and thrive. Beautiful, vibrant colors are seen sprinkled across the desert. This super bloom phenomenon occurs about every ten years!

God is so amazing and nothing is wasted - even in dry desert places where seeds are buried and waiting.

“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” Psalm 92:12-15

 Timing is everything.

Maybe dreams have changed or shifted in our lives, but what about the dreams that have been dormant in our hearts? I’m talking about those dreams that have been tucked deep in our hearts. The ones that God has confirmed to us over and over again. It can be discouraging at times to continue to trust and believe in God for those dreams, but they are not forgotten.

Just like the Super Bloom Phenomenon that is only possible if everything is aligned and positioned so that the dormant seeds can bloom, so too can the dreams that are dormant inside of us be activated when God’s timing and our positioning is aligned.

It’s not God’s desire for dormant dreams to remain within us. God’s desire is for us to flourish with every dream, but it’s in His timing, not ours. He will send the rain in the right season for the dormant dreams to activate and super bloom! God’s timing is perfect.

Surrender every dream.

We flourish when we surrender and say, “My dreams are Yours.” God is able to and will do more than we can imagine when we surrender and submit to His will and His ways. Our dreams come alive and become bigger and greater in His hands. This is more than we could ever achieve on our own.

When we dream with God, we flourish in ways that cause our roots to grow deeper. We flourish when we step out of our comfort zone, obey and trust what God is asking us to do. This is very much like a seed: it has everything it needs already inside to flourish in the right timing and circumstances. God has given us everything we need to flourish as we abide and trust in Him.

God will always give us what we need when we need it.

We flourish when we dream, but we will also flourish when we abide and stay connected to Him.

“I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing. Anyone who separates from me is deadwood, gathered up and thrown on the bonfire. But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon. This is how my Father shows who he is—when you produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples. John 15:5

Daughter, you are fashioned to flourish, thrive, and bloom where you are planted.

Be encouraged to dream with God and abide in Him, each and every day, allowing Him to work and move in your life so that when the time is right, everything will align to orchestrate a SUPER BLOOM in your life!
